College of Health Systems Management, Naresuan University held the Academic Seminar with the Cooperation of Phitsanulok Municipality to Enhance Knowledge and Experience for CHSM International Students Regarding the Roles of Local Administrative Organization towards Health System Management in Phitsanulok Municipal Area
During 2nd – 4th of May, 2017, Dr. Suthi Hantrakul, MD. – Deputy Mayor of Phitsanulok Municipality was an honorary guest speaker to welcome CHSM international students and lead the seminar on knowledge enhancing and exchanging regarding health systems management in Phitsanulok municipal area as well as taking students on a community visit i.e. Pracha-utid community health center, Pra-ongkhao community health center, Srasonghong community waste management center, Phitsanulok Municipality Library, and Phitsanulok Municipality waste management center in Bangrakam District. This academic seminar is part of the academic activity of the M.Sc. and Ph.D. program in health systems management of CHSM. With the support of local administrative organization which has been acknowledged domestically and internationally regarding its quality of work and innovation in developing people’s health and quality of life, CHSM students were able to gain more knowledge and exchange it with the municipal leader regarding the current health systems management in Phitsanulok.
CHSM Students visited Phitsanulok Municipality
The students of College of Health Systems Management (CHSM) at Naresuan University visited Phitsanulok Municipality from 02 to 04 May 2017 as part of academic program. The purpose of this visit was to get practical exposure and receive hands on training on health system at Municipality level. The three-day visit was sequenced to provide theoretical background of Phitsanulok Municipality along with its development programs on first day followed by practical exposure on second day and recap & reflection of field visit on third day.
In the morning session of day one, the Deputy Mayor Dr. Suthi Hantrakul gave comprehensive presentation on missions of Phitsanulok Municipality, role of local government, and health initiatives of Municipality. On the first day students visited Chom Nan and Ruen Phae Public Parks, Thai Traditional Medical Service centre, Phitsanulok Municipality ICT centre and Phitsanulok Municipality Library.
On second day, the students visited Pracha-Utit Health Community Center and Phra-ong- khao Health Community in the morning session. They also visited Sra-song-hong Community for community based waste management project and Phitsanulok Municipality Waste Management Center at Buengkok Sub-district, Bangrakam District for Mechanical Biological Treatment (MBT) composting plant in the afternoon of second day.
On final day, Dr Suthi recapped the whole visit and conducted question-answer session and answered all questions posed by visiting students. Overall, the visit was fruitful as CHSM students learned about operational structure of Municipality, health promotion and prevention through community health centers, effective and efficient management of Municipality, and finally application of sufficiency economy philosophy (SEP) principles in all activities of Municipality of Phitsanulok city. The students also gathered new knowledge on health system of Thailand that would be useful for academic learning.
